Chef Gayatri Peshawaria

What do the passions of cooking and gardening, put together, bring alive? A desire to educate the next generation about more conscious eating and cooking choices. Gayatri Peshawaria, chef and food educator has dedicated her profession toward the same.

Chef Gayatri’s food education company, Gayatri’s Gourmet works towards empowering school children to make wiser food choices by growing, cooking, serving and recycling food. She also hosts a show called Global Chullah on her YouTube channel where she cooks Amritsari recipes that have travelled down the generations around the farms and villages of the region.

Chef Gayatri started her career as a food and wine journalist with UpperCrust, India's first food and wine magazine and is trained as a Barista with Himalayan Java, Nepal. She trained in organic farming with well-known agriculture and cultural conservationist, Judith Conant Chase. She is also trained in the pastry arts. She has worked with Michelin Star Chef Vikas Khanna on his famous cookbook, Amritsar: Flavours of the Golden City.

With a philosophy rooted in local, seasonal ingredients and family recipes, her food is all about experiences from her childhood where she cooked with her grandparents.
